Continuing Saga....

Well, today was my first day of getting up early and hitting the gym.  My alarm went off at 5am and I was at the gym around 5:45am.  I swam until 6:30, got showered, dressed and ready for the day.  I can feel some of the soreness from the swim starting to creep in, but otherwise, I'm feeling good.  The blood flow starting so early is going to have me raring to go this morning for my class.

I'm going to give this a continuing try over the next few days.  This might be the time slot and habit I need to get into to get to the gym as often as I can to get myself going.

On other fronts, I've been working in the yard the last two nights.  I have made some significant progress.  I have a long long ways to go, but each day is bringing me one step closer to getting a yard that I am not actually embarrased to sit in and use.  Also keeps the dog shit at a fair minimum (or at least it will) if I can continue to get out there and pick it up and rake daily.  I'm just going to continue doing this each day.  Little by little it will get done.

Yardwork and gym on a daily basis.  Will it work.  I know that it will.  I just don't have to beat myself up over missing a day and giving up on the whole thing.  Adjustments need to be made and things will work out the way they are supposed to.

On yet another front.  I'm taking a Windows Azure development class.  Fuck this guy who is teaching it seems to not know what the fuck he is doing.  The demo's he's doing aren't the prettiest thing and it's like he's going through the class without having to review the course material.  I have no doubt that he knows what he is doing.  But teaching it isn't going well for him this time.  Or at least it's not for me.

Class starts in 12 minutes and I need to get myself logged in and working.  Will catch you all later.

The first step is done, now to continue forward... (Day #2)

Another quick and easy hello out there.  The first day went well in heading to the gym.  I didn't get out into the backyard like I had hoped, but as the weather is getting hotter, it might not be as easy to do that.  I do need to get out there, but I just have to make it early in the morning instead of mid-afternoon.  That's why I think that Saturday is pretty much going to be yard work day.  I'll adjust my schedule as needed.  I've been doing a few things here and there to make life to forward even more. Did Fresh and Easy again today.

Only made 75% of a lap yesterday.  My shoulders were killing me.  So I ended up finishing with breast stroke.  I'll keep at it today for 2 laps.  Either freestyle or breast, as long as I'm in the water and moving forward is what I care about.

I did a good dinner last night and tonight will be another good dinner night.

Back is hurting, so I'm going to be logging off early today.  Hard to sit for too long so it seems.

And away we go.....(Day #1)

Well this is a quick and easy little hello out there to welcome myself to a whole new life and a whole new world.  I'm already starting off well.  I was a bit late getting up this morning, but that's not a big deal.  I adjusted accordingly and am now getting ready to head off to the doctor's office in about 7 minutes.  I shaved the head, trimmed the beard and generally had a good time of it all.  I've made sure that I have my money clip with me (which reminds me.....hold on...okay back - had to go get my insurance card so I don't forget that) so I don't have a repeat of what happened at Fresh and Easy last night (shop, reach for my wallet and what do you know it's not there).  So the plan for this morning is pretty simple.  Dr. V's for my appointment at 9:30, then over the LVAC to pick up my membership card, then over to WalMart to pick up a pair of swim goggles and then over the Fresh and Easy to pick up the makings for dinner tonight (thinking chicken over rice as something simple and easy).  Then home, do some yard work, coding, then back over to LVAC to do one lap.  Then home, read and sleep.  Sounds pretty simple.  Let's hope that it works out that way.

Until later...

Starting Tomorrow (aka May 1st, 2014)

So I'm excited about starting this new chapter of my life.  It's about time that I really start to focus on myself and getting things in my life organized and ready to enter the second phase of my life full of energy and with a spark for the good things.

So as I said in my first blog, I have 5 goals, and each blog should address some of these.  So here we go:

#1)  Get in shape!
That starts tomorrow night when I walk into LVAC and swim a single lap.  I know that it doesn't sounds like a lot, but I need to start off slowly and work my way up.  I'm not worried about the speed of things right now, the first month that I'm doing this is to get myself in the habit of going.  I've decided that the best time for me to go is from 9pm to 11pm.  It will give me a good consistent time that I can go.  And if I want to go out afterwards, I can, if I don't, I can just go home and do some reading and head off to bed.

#2)  Get my MS Certification and a new job!
That is just studying and working on code.  I re-take the 20486 class again next week and then a 20487 class the week after that, so after all is said and done I should be able to get myself in good shape to take my cert exams and work on getting myself a new job.  The goal is to spend May getting in better shape and getting those certs, and then I'll be able to work on getting a job starting in June.  My hope is to have work by July 1st.

#3)  Become an expert on HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and ASP.net MVC using C#!
This is just putting what I have learned into practice and using it on a daily basis.   I'm going to work on Suzy and Max's pages and see if I can get those up and running as examples of what I can do with that and push to go further and further with my knowledge.   I have a couple of hours a day schedule to code.  And I will just need to buy new books on a regular basis to keep in step with the newest and latest and greatest coding.

#4)  Get back into my spiritual/magical workings again.
I've already got this started.  The first magick that I'm working is money magick.  I need to get some significant money into my life.  I need to re-write my goal, as I made it too vague and too easy for the universe to give me what I asked for, now what I needed.  I need to remember to be specific.  I put down that I want enough money in my life to live easily and care-free.  Well that could be easily done with very little money if I live a very spartan lifestyle.  That's not what I want.  So I need to reword that a bit more.

#5)  Get healthy!
Part of this is getting mentally and emotionally healthy as well as physcially healthy.  And part of that is adjusting my surroundings as well.  So I have a few hours every day that I'm not in class to work in the yard and get the backyard in shape.  I'm going to add a garden soon and generally have a great place to work my outdoor magick and do what I need to do.  I will also give me a bit of an oasis and a place to be when I'm needing to get out of the way.

So that's where I'm headed right now.  Things swing into full gear tomorrow.  Now just need to work on doing this day by day and not beat myself up too much if my schedule falls out of whack or if I don't get what I want done completed.

I have things schedule pretty loose, yet tight at the same time.  So it will be interesting to see how it goes.  I made sure to put a few minutes every day to blog and to also just read for fun.  I look forward to seeing what happens from this point forward.

5 days to start....

Well I'm back to blogging again.  Or at least the attempt to blog on a regular basis.  This is just a simple little blog that is going to track the changes that I want to make in my life.  This is going to be a different start than I've had in years past because, I'm in a better (or maybe it's worse) mindset.  I need to make this happen.  I must make this happen.  No more wants, no more I could get away with not doing it.  This is a simple need and must!

The goals?  Pretty simple.  They are:

#1)  Get in shape!
Well there could be a lot said, and I do have a plan of action, which thanks to help, will happen.  I am joining LVAC (technically re-joining) and just going to start slow and with swimming.  Eventually I'll work up to more, but for now, swimming daily will do it.

#2)  Get my MS Certification and a new job!
I need to find something soon.  I'm going to start looking in June so I can get my certifications and get some coding experience on my own so I can show the kind of work that I can do.

#3)  Become an expert on HTML5, CSS3, Javascript and ASP.net MVC using C#.
This is more an extension of what I'm doing in step #2.  But instead of gaming, instead of watching TV, my life for the next little bit is to become a guru in all things computer.  I'm going to sluff away from my Lotus Notes stuff and go fully as a Web Developer using the languages above.

#4)  Get back into my spiritual/magickal workings again.
I've lost too much lately.  I need to just work hard on getting my spiritual self back.

#5) Get healthy!
That does go hand in hand with #1, but getting healthy also means getting my blood pressure under control, getting my numbers when blood tests are done back into the normal range.  I'm not really unhealthy per se, but I could be healthier.

Well that's it.  I'm saying 5 days to start, because I'm going to really start with goal #1 and #5 on the 1st of May.  I will code and get that aspect started now (but the rest will start then).

Until later...
